Jim Kirk is a compassionate fool. He had the chance to kill a corrupted, mutated officer in his crew but he hesitated and he nearly died and his crew because of it. Gary, a ship’s officer was the victim of a powerrful anomaly that gave him telepathic and telekenetic powers, like a god, and he tried to rule over the Enterprise and control its crew and maybe to conquer the universe. Then Elizabeth a psychiatrist on the ship fell for him and eventually died like him.
Spock was right all along. I guess compassion went a far way in the end but it was almost everyone’s undoing. I saw this episode years ago but now seeing the second episode of Star Trek overall, I understand and appreciate it more. Journey with me as I explore this orderly world and it’s good to see they overhauled the show from episode one because that show sucked. William Shatner wasn’t the first Star Trek captain, he was the second and still the best.
